Come lead the Boston YMCA Blue Fins! We a registered USA Swim and National YMCA Swim Team housed at the Burbank YMCA with age group swim programs stating at age 8 through age 18 in middle school and high school. The team competes in local, regional and national high level swim meets.

The Blue Fins Head Coach is responsible for the management, development and success of the Boston YMCA Blue Fins Swim Team program, its athletes, staff and volunteers. This position will actively work with swimmers coaching and implementing strategies to develop strong, confident athletes that strive to be their best, compete at their best and who demonstrate strong character in line with our core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

Job Requirements:

At least 21 years of age.

At least 5 years competitive swimming coaching experience.

Experience supervising and developing coaches, schedules and member relations.

Must be aware of YMCA and US Competitive Swimming movement and trends in the aquatic field and must continue to enhance his/her knowledge of the YMCA and US Competitive swimming movement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.

Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

1. Develop, implement, and oversee competitive swimming program.

2. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all paid and volunteer coaches and/or administrators as programs dictate and budget guidelines allow.

3.Ensure that all staff have appropriate and updated certifications on file.

4. Monitor program registrations and participant records.

5.Ensure quality and technical consistency throughout programming and across coaches.

6. Complete YMCA and USA swimming team registrations as required yearly.

7. Write and implement workouts for each practice.

8. Maintain up to date records.

9. Organize year round meet calendar. Write and submit all line ups for all meets. Attend, manage, and run all meets as needed.

10. Participate in weekly branch leadership meetings.

11. Engage with core aquatics programming to ensure a bridge between pre-competitive and competitive swimming.
