We're currently looking for experienced preschool teachers to teach at our brand new Skyview Preschool Village, opening Fall 2024! Positions will begin on July 1, 2024.
GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Preschool Director, the Preschool Teacher supervises groups of children and implements YMCA activities.
HOURS:This is a full-time position. The hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 3:30pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
(1) CONDUCTS and ORGANIZES class activities.
(2) SUPERVISES the other teachers under the direction of the Youth & Family Director.
(3) FOLLOWS specific YMCA Standard Operating Procedures. (i.e., roll call of participants, sign in/out of all children attending program, parent greetings, cleaning and straightening of supplies in the area.)
(4) INPUTS data, tracks, grades, and classifies children’s progression using the anecdotes method established by COR.
(5) CREATES and IMPLEMENTS program activities.
(6) DEVELOPS curriculum following the High Scope methodology.
(7) PROMOTES and EMBRACES Character Development in curriculum.
(8) SERVES as a positive role model for program participants.
(9) BUILDS and MAINTAINS a high standard of member service for all program participants.
(10) PROMOTES safety as an overriding objective in all programming efforts.
(11) PERFORMS all other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching or Child Development from an accredited college or a Current Child Development Associate Credential (CDA). A minimum of 6 semester hours in child development courses and a minimum of 6 semester hours of classes directly related to child psychology or the health of children. A minimum of 2 years of full time, verifiable work, in child care and/or Bachelor’s Degree in related field with a minimum of 2 years child care experience.
