The Ocean Community YMCA is seeking an experienced Camp and Enrichment Director for our facility located in beautiful Mystic, CT.

Under the supervision of the Executive Branch Director, this position develops, organizes, and implements high-quality youth programs and activities at the Naik Family Branch and Camp Cove. Through leadership, this person will be responsible for overseeing youth and adult enrichment programs including the seasonal day camp, scheduled activities, organizing events, and managing staff.
Bachelor’s degree of Science in Physical Education or its equivalent
Minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience in physical education or recreation
Minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience as a Camp Director
Competence in leadership, motivation, public relations, supervision, and knowledge of camp facilities management
YMCA experience preferred
Understands and ensures that the American Camping Association (ACA) standards are followed
Ensures compliance with State of Connecticut licensing requirements for Youth Camps
Serves as a community leader building collaborations with related agencies in order to advance the Y’s mission and goals in accordance with the strategic plan
Expands Camp Cove programs within the multiple communities in accordance with strategic and operating plans
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations
Evaluates current programs for financial viability
Broadens youth and adult enrichment programs and Camp activities to include programs with local schools, rentals/events, and programming for YMCA members at Camp
Increasing the number of campers at Camp Cove each week in the summer
Enforces all camp rules and policies, including safety and health policies
Markets new and current camp programs in conjunction with the Marketing Director
Conducts safety and other training for staff
Oversees the camp in process
Develops staff to make campers feel welcome and supported at all times
Completes end of season evaluation
Works closely with maintenance team for improvements and general upkeep
Works closely with financial development team to secure donations and grants to support youth programs, Camp scholarships, and facility improvements
Participates in Annual Support Campaign and recruiting campaigners
Writes and manages department budget
Submits billing requests accurately and timely
