This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Before and After Care Program Supervisor supports the mission of the West Morris Area YMCA by fostering a passion for the joy of learning and adventure in children.

·         High School Diploma, 6 hours of child care training and 2 years’ experience working with school-aged youth (preferred).

·         CPR/First aid certification.

·         Must meet minimum age requirement of 18 years old.

·         Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission of the YMCA.

·         Experience working with children in a learning or camp environment.

·         Ability to effectively relate to diverse groups of people from all socio-economic backgrounds and communities.

1.    Maintains a culture of safety.

2.    Under the direction of the Site Director, support age-appropriate activities which may include homework assistance, sports, games, crafts, clean-up, fire drills and other procedures required.

3.    Administer EMERGENCY First Aid and/or CPR to any injured person as needed.

4.    Maintain records and forms required by the Administrator of School Programs.

5.    Supervise and discipline children based on written policies.

6.    Counselors consult with the Site Director on any questions of policy or procedure, disciplinary action, or safety.

7.    Ensure that areas, equipment, and facilities used by the students are maintained in a clean, serviceable, safe, and orderly manner.

8.    Share skills and talents for the improvement of the program.

9.    Prepare and distribute snacks.

10.  Additional tasks as assigned.
