The Ranch at YMCA Camp Ernst is looking for an experienced & dynamic new Program Director to lead & executive all aspects related to the management of a high-quality summer camp equestrian program, including hiring barn staff, seasonal horsemanship lessons, trail rides, and the ranch volunteer program. If you are a self-starter, team player, trail rider, servant leader, kid magnet, horse-lover & camp person, you are just who we are looking for. 

  • College education or applicable experience working with horses in and around programs for children.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in supervision, coordination and implementation of equine programs.
  • CHA certification, or ability to obtain within first six (6) months.
  • Skills in administration, marketing, staff supervision and member/volunteer involvement preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in order to maintain harmonious relationships with staff members, volunteers, program participants and the general public.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and be creative, motivated, self-starter with the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Must possess the physical capabilities necessary to throw hay, mount/dismount from horses, and manage the physical demands of leading an equestrian program. 
  • Plan, execute, evaluate and continually refine year-round and summer ranch programs.
  • Provide care for herd of 28+ horses and equipment, including food (hay and grain), ferrier and veterinarian care.
  • Interpret and supervise safety and health regulations. Supervise performance of ranch camp staff and help with their transition to and participation in the program.
  • Maintain good public relations with parents of campers.
  • Ensures that high quality programs are offered, program standards are met and safety procedures followed. 
  • Secure supplies and equipment for effective program operation.
  • Provide for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
  • Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned.
$44,200.00 - $49,700.00
