Great opportunity to lead an established YMCA branch that is recognized for its strong community collaboration and presence. The Executive Director is responsible for leading all branch operations for the Louisville Area YMCA. This includes overall fiscal accountability, staff development, fundraising, and community engagement in alignment with the YMCA’s mission and strategic goals. This full-facility branch serves over 5,600 members and employs 70+ staff with an annual operating budget of $1.35 million.

  • Strong operations background with a track record in revenue growth, financial development, and cost management
    •    Proven experience managing an operating budget exceeding $1 million
    •    Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive leadership experience
    •    Demonstrated ability to lead staff, build a strong team culture, and deliver on strategic goals  
    •    Proven ability to develop and manage an engaged advisory board
    •    Successful experience in financial development, including launching major fundraising campaigns and special events
    •    Ability to work collaboratively and build partnerships with local organizations, civic groups, and key stakeholders
    •    Strong decision-making skills and exercising sound judgment under pressure

Financial Leadership
•    Lead an Annual Giving Campaign with a fundraising goal of $80,000+
•    Plan and execute a major annual special event, historically netting $50,000+
•    Prepare and manage the annual budget and forecast in collaboration with Association leadership
•    Monitor financial performance and make timely adjustments to ensure a balanced operation
Branch Operations and Program Growth
•    Provide direct oversight of day-to-day operations, including membership, wellness, youth, family, aquatics, and community outreach programs
•    Drive branch performance in membership recruitment, retention, and member experience
•    Ensure programs are mission-aligned, inclusive, and meet community needs
•    Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming facility that supports engagement and growth
Volunteer and Board Leadership
•    Serve as the staff liaison to the Advisory Board and support board committees
•    Lead board recruitment, orientation, and engagement strategies
Community Engagement
•    Represent the YMCA within the community by building meaningful partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, and public agencies
•    Promote the YMCA mission, programs, and impact through strategic communication and outreach
Professional Development and Culture
•    Support staff development through coaching, evaluation, and leadership training
•    Model and uphold YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility
•    Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and accountabilit

•    Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit setting
•    Leading annual fundraising campaigns and special events 
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred in human services, business, nonprofit leadership, or related field 
•    YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader Certification preferred
