Under the supervision of the Controller/Accounting Manager and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the YMCA's established policies and goals, the Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial data, and assisting with monthly and annual close processes. This position also maintains general ledger activities, prepares reconciliations, and supports financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and internal controls.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
2. 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
3. Strong understanding of GAAP and foundational accounting practices.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to learn proprietary software (e.g., Daxko, ERP systems, accounting software).
5. Must be detail‑oriented and demonstrate strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
6. Must exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills.
7. Ability to work well independently and collaboratively.
8. Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required within 60 days of hire.
9. Complete and maintain required trainings to include: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment.
10. Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check.

1. Support the mission, vision, and goals of the YMCA.
2. Promote a professional work environment through character development by modeling the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
3. Assist with daily accounting operations, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
4. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
5. Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes.
6. Support preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
7. Understand accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions 
8. Maintain general ledger schedules and supporting documentation.
9. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
10. Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
11. Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal control procedures.
12. Identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
13. Maintain organized financial records in accordance with YMCA policies and retention guidelines.
14. Maintain Fixed Assets to include depreciation and life cycle.
15. Assist with the capital process.

$60,000.00 - $65,000.00
