Associate Director of Annual Giving and Strategic Events

The Associate Director of Annual Giving & Strategic Events serves as a key execution leader within the YMCA of Greater Louisville’s Financial Development team, supporting association-wide Annual Giving efforts through branch engagement, campaign activation, strategic fundraising events, and sponsorship growth.

This position maintains a shared portfolio of assigned branches alongside the Director of Annual Giving & Stewardship and works collaboratively to support execution of Annual Giving strategies, branch engagement, donor cultivation and solicitation, sponsorship growth, and fundraising momentum across the association.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, annual giving, donor engagement, or related field. 
  • Comfortable making direct asks and engaging donors in conversations about giving and impact
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail 
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with a donor-centered approach 
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or CRM systems preferred 
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into action 
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends during campaign and event seasons 
  • Self-starter with initiative, curiosity, and a passion for the YMCA’s mission 

Annual Giving Execution & Branch Support

  • Support execution of the association-wide Annual Giving campaign in collaboration with the Director of Annual Giving & Stewardship, Sr. Director of Development & Mission Advancement, and branch leadership
  • Actively engage in fundraising efforts including directly soliciting gifts and support from donors  
  • Coordinate campaign materials, timelines, and communications to ensure alignment across branches 
  • Provide real-time branch and donor insight to help inform Annual Giving strategies and fundraising priorities which could possibly include updates for leadership and volunteers 
  • Support training and coaching of staff, volunteers, and branch boards on campaign tools, messaging, and best practices 
  • Engage with branch leadership individually and collectively to support campaign success; this may include, but is not limited to, participation in branch board meetings, branch staff and leadership team meetings
  • Partner with branches to support campaign implementation, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure consistency in execution 
  • Create energy alongside branch executives to maintain campaign momentum throughout the campaign cycle
  • Provide feedback and direction on branch-level fundraising ideas, partnering with branch boards and campaign
  • volunteers to strengthen results
  • Introduce and implement creative and engaging fundraising strategies that help energize and drive campaign success


Strategic Events & Sponsorship Revenue

  • Lead planning and execution of a select portfolio of association-wide fundraising and strategic events
  • Develop and support sponsorship strategies including prospecting, package development, pricing, renewals, and fulfillment 
  • Collaborate with the Chief Development & Philanthropy Officer, Sr. Director of Development & Mission Advancement, Director of Annual Giving & Stewardship, Marketing & Communications, branch executives, and program leaders to establish event purpose, audience strategy, sponsorship opportunities, revenue goals, and success measures 
  • Ensure events align with Annual Giving, donor cultivation, stewardship, and major gift priorities
  • Support strategies that ensure the right donors, prospects, sponsors, and community partners are engaged in fundraising opportunities. 
  • Track and report event performance, sponsorship revenue, attendance, and engagement outcomes 
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community partners 

Collaboration & Operations

  • Support data integrity and reporting efforts within Raiser’s Edge NXT, including donor records, pledge tracking, and campaign reporting
  • Maintain organized event documentation, sponsorship tracking and project timelines 
  • Assist in preparing donor and prospect briefings to support leadership and campaign volunteers 
    Collaborate closely with Finance, Marketing & Communications, Operations, and branch teams to support fundraising success and donor engagement
  • Support ongoing evaluation and improvement of fundraising events, sponsorship strategies, and campaign activation efforts
  • All other duties as assigned
